Baked Brie / Camembert Cheese
I am tempted to start this post by saying… Say Cheese… Have you ever tried baked Camembert or Brie cheese? It is a delicious starter or snack. The best part about this is it almost looks completely home made when you heat it up!
I recently did a post on Canapés/snacks (you can find the post HERE). I would like to add this delicious dish to the list. If you are anything like me, you love cheese, especially cheese that is a little bit more interesting than Gouda or Cheddar. I always have the one or the other in my fridge for that impromptu wine and cheese get-togethers. By doing something differently with the cheese and serving it on your own platter makes it look different and almost home-made.
-1 block of Brie or Camembert
-A few sprigs of fresh rosemary
-2 cloves garlic
1. Peel garlic and slice lengthways in quarters.
2. Use softer tips of rosemary sprigs – stick them with the garlic into the cheese evenly spread out.
3. Heat cheese in oven on 110 degrees Celsius for about 8 – 10 minutes. You do not want it to overheat as you will end up with a messy soup. I test the cheese by pressing with a knive onto it to see whether it is soft, but firm enough. Once soft enough remove from oven.
4. Serve on a pretty platter with a knife and crackers. You can use freshly baked ciabata bread as well, it will be delicious.
I do hope you enjoyed this post. This really is a delicious, warm, comforting starter – perfect for the freezing weather we are currently experiencing in South Africa. I first got to taste this when my mother made it and it has been a treat ever since then.
